“Wrinkles should merely indicate where smiles have been.”
Mark Twain
Did you know that it is impossible to feel bad when you have a smile on your face? Think about it.
How do you feel when you’re smiling? You feel good. You feel energized. But so many people
walk around in their own little world, feeling down and depressed when the simple action of
smiling would help lift them out of the doldrums. ...
Try it sometime. If you wake up feeling blue,
smile. Gee, that sounds like a line from a song from the 30' or 40's. “If you wake up feeling blue,
just smile, smile, smile.”But it’s true. You won’t feel bad for long. Look in the mirror and smile at
yourself. Then share that smile with someone else. Before long it becomes infectious and you
realize you’re feeling better. Make it your assignment to make someone else smile too. You will
brighten their day and your own as well. I know it sounds hokey or corny, but there is no reason
not to feel better when you have it in your capacity to change.
A smile is also a reflection of the visioning process. Once you have decided to use positive
thought to your advantage, using your smile is a daily commitment to improving yourself.
Envision how you feel when you smile. Picture something that makes you smile and you’ll find
yourself smiling. Think about what it would be like to have everybody you encounter in a whole
day, smile at you. It starts with you. Not to mention that a smile completely disarms the other
person and causes them to be far more receptive to you. Do you think that might be useful in
business? Or in life?
I’ve heard that it takes more facial muscles to frown than it does to smile. I don’t know about
you, but if that’s true I like being lazy. Give me a smile anytime.
