Home Depot Fun!
You wouldn’t expect the best service story of the week to come from a staffer at Home depot, but it does. We are building a new home and searching all of the big stores for ideas about fixtures, bathrooms, kitchens and the hundreds of other things you need to decide upon when building.
Last night, in Home Depot, we were approached by an elderly gentleman who was obviously retired from his first career and was working at Home Depot for fun...and it showed. He asked what he could do to make our evening in Home Depot better? We made some flippant comment about making all of our decisions for us. He caught the humour and was off, regaling us with a few stories, giving us permission to have fun in his store. We asked about the instant hot water dispenser, and he proceeded to discuss the merits of making hot tea in a pot as opposed to a cup. My wife, being British born, was right into the conversation. He sold us on the hot water dispenser without even talking about the product directly. What a salesman. Just a guy with lots of general knowledge having fun in a Home Depot. He may even have inspired me to my retirement goal.
Cheers
Steve
